Vicki Antion-Nelson Named Advisory Committee Member to WVU College of Law's WVAJ Student Association
Vicki Antion-Nelson is continuing her service to WVU by being named an advisory committee member for WVU College of Law’s WVAJ Student Association. A lifelong Mountaineer, Vicki routinely volunteers at the university and law school, and Vicki is excited about working with the West Virginia Association for Justice at the law school this year. Vicki is looking forward to connecting with West Virginia’s future lawyers to discuss the importance of standing up for those who need legal services and fighting for just causes.

AMLG Resolves West Virginia Mesothelioma and Lung Cancer Cases
Antion McGee Law Group recently resolved mesothelioma and lung cancer cases as part of the October 2016 West Virginia trial group which was in Wheeling, West Virginia. Our clients in this group included a household mesothelioma client whose husband worked in the munitions industry and brought asbestos dust home on his work clothing exposing his wife to the harmful fibers, an electrician at a chemical plant, a boilermaker at power plants, steelworkers at steel mills, an engineer at power plants, and a coal miner. Antion McGee Law Group is proud to fight for our clients’ rights, and we are pleased that we again reached favorable outcomes in October.

Consensus Report on Mesothelioma Calls for More Research
The Journal of Thoracic Oncology published its Consensus Report on the 2015 Weinman International Conference on Mesothelioma. The scientists involved with the consensus report called for more research concerning treatment options and increasing survival for those suffering from mesothelioma as well as focusing on further prevention efforts to decrease future incidents of malignant mesothelioma.

Helping West Virginia Families on West Virginia Day
While the Mountain State was celebrating West Virginia day, AMLG attorneys Vicki Antion Nelson and Scott McGee were in trial in Wheeling, fighting on behalf of West Virginia families devastated by asbestos disease, mesothelioma and lung cancer. Our asbestos clients this round included a young living laborer, a steel worker, a lifelong millwright, an electrician, and a mechanic. Ovarian Cancer Claims
Although evidence increasingly shows Johnson & Johnson knew about health hazards associated with talcum powder, Johnson & Johnson baby powder, and Shower to Shower for decades, women across the country were needlessly exposed to carcinogenic talc through Johnson & Johnson powders. At AMLG, we are investigating cases of ovarian cancer in women who used talcum powder and have subsequently developed or died from ovarian cancer. Judge Dismisses Railroad’s Attempt To Short-Circuit Ex-Employee’s Asbestos Case
WHEELING, W.Va. — A federal judge in West Virginia on Dec. 29 dismissed a railroad’s action seeking a ruling that a former employee’s previous release insulated it from his current mesothelioma case, saying the relief sought likely wouldn’t satisfy the amount-in-controversy requirement and that the railroad has not otherwise demonstrated the need for such intervention (CSX Transportation Inc. v. Robert L. Phillips, No. 15-192, N.D. W.Va.; 2015 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 172437).

Four Mesothelioma Cases Settled During February Asbestos Trial Group
AMLG attorneys and our co-counsel have successfully resolved 4 mesothelioma cases and an asbestos lung cancer case as part of the February 2016 West Virginia asbestos trial group in Charleston, West Virginia. Our clients’ exposures to asbestos in this trial group included asbestos dust exposures from steel mills, aluminum foundries, power plants, chemical plants, and automotive friction plants, in addition to the construction and automotive industries. Vicki and Scott are proud to represent injured West Virginians and their families and we are particularly honored to achieve a positive outcome from such preventable diseases.

AMLG Supports WVU Medicine
AMLG member Vicki Antion Nelson was again decked out in RAD color bombs as she volunteered at the annual Morgantown Color Me Rad run encouraging fitness, exercise, and lots of fun while raising money for a worthy local charity. Vicki was integral in bringing Color Me Rad to Morgantown and for the past three years, Vicki has volunteered with Color Me Rad to raise funds for the Rosenbaum Family House at WVU Hospital.
